Please join Jefferson Parish Councilman Paul D. Johnston, President Michael S. Yenni and Jefferson Parish Officials as they celebrate the grand re-opening of the new LaSalle Park, located at 6600 Airline Drive in Metairie. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be this Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 6:00 pm on Field 4.
Keeping athletes safe was the top priority for this project. The LaSalle Park Turf project includes improvements to four baseball/softball fields. An artificial turf with a fiber that is more resistant to wear was installed in the infield of all four-ball fields.
French drainage was installed around the infields, 31 new field catch basins were installed and connected to the existing drainage system. The fields were regraded to move excess water quickly and efficiently from the field of play. Additional improvements to the complex included new foul ball poles, trashcans with lids, baby-changing stations, fencing upgrades and parking lot restriping. The Press Box also received upgrades, which included new flooring, counter tops, windows and furniture.
“I am really excited about the re-opening and revitalization of LaSalle Park. The new ball fields are impressive. I am looking forward to our youth and families having the experience of playing ball on the new artificial turf,” says Councilman Paul Johnston.
Meyer Engineer Ltd. engineered design and construction. Field Turf USA, Inc. performed the work at a total project cost of $1,428,802.00. Funding provided by Council District 2 and the Parks and Recreation Department.
