Arts & Culture

Jefferson Parish is home to award-winning theaters, museums, and historic districts! Our culture is celebrated year-round through music & food at festivals, and annually during the carnival season.

Rich in culture and heritage, Jefferson has much to offer to cultural enthusiasts...and to those just looking for a fun time!

From theater to concerts, festivals, Mardi Gras, historic districts, and even cultural organizations and entities sharing the 'art' of oyster harvesting, seafood packaging, and other trade/craftsmen talents, Jefferson offers an array of experiences.

Enjoy a show-stopping musical, ballet or concert at one of two performing arts theaters.

Tour a NASA International Space Station prototype as well as an interactive weather exhibit at the Kenner Planetarium and Space Science Complex. See the oldest volunteer fire company in the US, the David Crockett Firehouse which is home to the Louisiana Fire Museum in Gretna.

See a unique presentation of the infamous pirate, Jean Lafitte, in a series of animated marionette puppets at the Town of Jean Lafitte Tourist Information Center. Learn the centuries old story of life in the fishing communities along Bayou Barataria at the Lafitte Barataria Museum & Wetland Trace.

Enjoy our Artscapes sculptures on major thoroughfares as you drive through Jefferson. You can explore at any time of year, any day of the week in a variety of different venues. Looking for one-of-a-kind photo-ops? Jefferson Parish has many unique murals painted by local and internationally known artists! Spot as many Louisiana Oyster Trail sculptures as you can throughout the Parish...leading you to a delicious meal featuring this Louisiana delicacy!
