Kenner, LA. – Kenner’s annual Lundi Gras celebration in Rivertown, featuring the meeting of the courts of the Krewe of Argus and the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club of New Orleans, takes place on Monday beginning at 11 a.m.

This is the 19th year for the annual free event. Music will be provided by Groovy 7 beginning at 11:30 a.m. and continuing until the celebration ends at 3 p.m.

“This event is not only a great, free party for our residents and other visitors, but it’s a wonderful way to show all Rivertown has to offer,” Kenner Mayor Ben Zahn said. “I hope that everyone is able to attend for the fun and fellowship.”

In addition to the free concert, there will vendors selling food and crafts and a toast from Zahn and Police Chief Mike Glaser, along with the Kenner City Council, to the royalty of both organizations. The 2017 King and Queen of Argus are Elie Khoury and Robin Marie Chailland. Royalty for Zulu are Adonis Charles Expose and Donna Marie Glapion.

District 1 Councilman Gregory Carroll also urged everyone to take advantage of Kenner’s Lundi Gras to get into the Mardi Gras spirit.

“It’s exciting for Kenner to have such an important role in the Mardi Gras celebration,” Carroll said. “This is a great event for the entire family.”

Zahn said city office buildings in Kenner will be closed both Monday and Tuesday, reopening at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1. Garbage pickup in the city will not be affected by the holiday.
