Swollfest
Swollfest is a celebration of camaraderie, conservation, and community hosted annually in Grand Isle.
This multi-day event draws anglers from across the region for competitive fishing, live music, and family-friendly fun. It raises funds for charitable causes and scholarships. What started in 1997 as a fishing trip among friends has become a major Jefferson Parish tradition.

Recreational Offshore Landing Permit
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries requires a Recreational Offshore Landing Permit (ROLP), a free permit, for anyone wanting to keep certain offshore fish species in Louisiana state waters. This includes tuna, billfish, swordfish, amberjack, snapper, grouper, hind, cobia, wahoo, and dolphinfish. The ROLP is required in addition to any other applicable licenses or permits. It helps the state collect better data on recreational and charter anglers fishing beyond Louisiana’s territorial waters and supports the LA Creel Program, which monitors fish harvests across the coast.
