Bayou Segnette State Park is a 676-acre Louisiana State Park located in Westwego, about 15 minutes from New Orleans. The park protects a significant stretch of coastal wetlands where swamp and marsh environments meet, creating a setting shaped by waterways, native vegetation, and abundant wildlife.

Boating and Fishing
Visitors can use the boat launch to access canals and marshes for boating and both freshwater and saltwater fishing. Typical catches include bass, catfish, bream, perch, redfish, and trout.
Canoes and kayaks are also popular ways to explore the waterways. You can find kayak rental equipment at Bayou Adventure, which is about 10 miles southeast of the park.
Trails and Outdoor Exploration
The park features a 1.6-mile nature trail with boardwalks for birdwatching and wildlife observation. Walking, jogging, and cycling are popular along these paths.
Picnicking and Day Use
Picnic tables, playgrounds, and reservable pavilions are available throughout the park for family outings and group gatherings. Pavilion rental starts at $50 per day with a maximum occupancy of 40 people.
Swimming
There is a pool complex located in the park that is open from Memorial Day to the first weekend in August. In addition to the park entrance fee, pool admission is $13 for adults and $10 for children under 4 feet tall.
