Lafreniere Park

Lafreniere Park is a 155-acre park with several amenities including a 2-mile jogging trail; a glass-enclosed room, The Foundation Center, available for meetings, receptions, showers, and parties; 8 picnic shelters; 20-acre lagoon; 2 playgrounds; a carousel; multi-use sports fields; 18-hole disc golf course.

The park features extensive array of wildlife, including a wide variety of birds, squirrels. turtles, rabbits, raccoons, opossums and coypu (or Nutria). Commonly seen species are White Ibis, (Canadian, African, and Chinese) Geese, Black Swan, Black-bellied Whistling Duck, and Great Egret. One side of the park contains a marshland with a wooden walkway cutting through it, allowing travelers to get up close with the wildlife.

The newest addition to the park are two FIFA Certified synthetic turf fields that include state-of-the-art lighting that will illuminate the fields for added night game availability. The new soccer complexes will provide a premier venue for soccer training, scrimmages, games, and tournaments for the residents of Jefferson Parish to enjoy.

The park is open from 5am to 10pm daily.
