Councilman Paul Johnston, Senator John Alario and The Jefferson Parish Administration, are celebrating the completion of the Ree Alario Special Needs Center. The Ribbon Cutting ceremony will take place on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 10:30am, located at 6900 Saints Drive in Metairie.
 
Construction of the new 17,983 square foot Multi-Purpose and Achievement Center was two years in the making.  The facility includes a full size gym with volleyball and basketball courts.  A covered entrance for drop-off and pick-up and a covered porch for outdoor activities.  Also included is an entrance lobby, reception area, Director’s office, three (3) meeting rooms, a kitchen, concession stand and multiple ADA accessible restrooms.  A camera, fire alarm, security and sound system are additional features in the facility.
 
The contractor was J. A. “Jack” Julius Jr., Inc. and the design and construction engineer was Meyer Engineers, LTD.  Funding was provided by the State of Louisiana Facility Planning and Control.  The final cost was $4,643,575.
