Please join Councilman Ricky J. Templet, President Michael S. Yenni and Jefferson Parish Officials as they break ground for the Dog Park and Splash Pad at Parc des Familles on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 10:00am.  The ceremony will take place at Parc des Familles, 6101 Leo Kerner Lafitte Parkway in Marrero.

Parc des Familles is already a great place for family and friends to relax and have fun!  A new dog park and splash pad are great additions, making it a Jefferson Parish destination.

The Splash Pad will offer a wide variety of spray effects with 14 water features including two Gravity Shooters, a Fill N’ Spill, a Water Whoopee and a host of other water activities that twist and turn, promoting imagination and coolness.

A wrought iron fence will surround the Splash Pad for user safety.  Benches and shade covers will be installed so parents may watch the excitement on their children’s face as they enjoy this space.

The Dog Park will be surrounded by a wrought iron fence with a section for small dogs under 22 pounds to play and a section for larger dogs over 22 pounds to run.  Included in the project will be a new handicap accessible parking lot.

“I am very excited about this project and I’ve heard from many people in our community who are as well.  This is a major quality of life improvement for all in Jefferson Parish to enjoy.  Parks and recreational activities, reduce crime, improve property values and strengthens the connection among neighbors,” says Councilman Ricky Templet.  “Our children deserve a safe, clean place to play, learn and grow.”

The project was designed by Meyer Engineers, Ltd and the construction performed by Rotolo Consultants, Inc. at an estimated cost of $798,962 from funds provided by Council District 1 and the Department of Parks and Recreation.  The project will take approximately 180 days to complete.
