Jefferson Parish will receive the Lt. Governor’s Beautification Award for its ongoing efforts to maintain a clean and beautiful community. Billy Nungesser will present the award on Friday, July 28, 2017 at the Louisiana Municipal Association’s 80^th Conference in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The award recognizes communities that have undertaken actions to improve their appearance and is a Keep Louisiana Beautiful Affiliate and contestant in the annual Louisiana Garden Club Federation’s Cleanest Cities Contest. Jefferson Parish is the recipient of this year’s award but the communities of Metairie, Gretna, Jean Lafitte, and Grand Isle have participated in the Cleanest Cities Contest for many years.  

To win the award, Jefferson Parish was evaluated in the areas of community leadership and coordination, education, public awareness, litter prevention and cleanup, litter law and illegal dumping enforcement, beautification and community improvement, and solid waste management.

Governor’s Beautification Award reaffirms our commitment to make Jefferson Parish a regional model for cleanliness, sanitation and waste management practices,’ said President Michael Yenni. “A big part of the work is encouraging people to recycle and be good stewards of the environment. We are elated to be recognized for our efforts. This award validates the hard work and resolve that goes into maintaining our Keep America Beautiful Affiliate memberships on a national and state level.”
