On Saturday, December 4, the German-American Cultural Center in Gretna, La., will celebrate the season with an “Oktoberfest in Dezember” Beer Garden from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Grilled brats, homemade sauerkraut, baked pretzels. Of course, German beer and wine will be available.
The Bayou Bavarians German band, led by accordionist Eric Hahn, will be on hand to play all the German favorites as well as other popular tunes. Entry to the beer garden is free of charge.
The GACC was unable to hold its traditional Oktoberfest due to Covid concerns, but the December 4 event will have the same celebratory flavor as a neighborhood German festival.
The event takes place the same day as the City of Gretna’s “Shop the Huey” holiday shopping event in downtown Gretna from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The city’s Farmers Market also takes place that day from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
