On the Saturday before Mardi Gras each year, the Rosethorne Parade is a unique experience that will have viewers guessing what they will see next. Spearheaded by a group of Mardi Gras veterans who don’t let any resources go to waste, from shrimp boots to lavishly decorated boats. It’s the place to enjoy traditions of both the past and present. The 50+ entry parade includes over 20 floats, music by local bands, marching groups, custom cars, jeeps, golf carts, boats, horse groups & more!
This Lafitte tradition was started over 50 years ago and never fails to make the bayou fantastically loud and alive. One of the greatest aspects of the Rosethorne parade is the dedication to making it a memorable experience both on the parade day and throughout the year. The newest edition to the Rosethorne Parade is the local dance group, The 689 Swampers. The fun-loving Mardi Gras dance group with the “Magic Feet From Lafitte” made their 1st appearance at the 2018 Rosethorne Parade and have been a regional sensation ever sense. Their laughter, high energy and good nature represent everything that is the Krewe of Rosethorne and the Town of Jean Lafitte.
Parade throws include custom doubloons, cups, koozies, beads and many other traditional Mardi Gras items.
