Since 2013, The Great Huey P. Long Bridge Run has celebrated the majestic views provided by a historic bridge. The Huey P. Long Bridge was established in 1935 and revised in 2013 with a well-received widening project.
Each year, the bridge is closed to vehicle traffic on a Saturday morning allowing runners to enjoy a professional and safe race experience while they #GeauxOverIt. It's a challenge worth celebrating as runners enjoy live music, great Louisiana food and cold beer after crossing the finish line.
You certainly don't need to be in a hurry to leave after you cross the finish line this year. You won't want to miss the famous post-race party complete with hot food, cold beer and live music. Spend the morning with us while you celebrate your accomplishment and enjoy some Jefferson Parish and New Orleans culture.
There is a 90-minute course limit to complete the 5K race. This equates to a 29:00 min/mile pace, which is a comfortable walk. If you are unable to continue at this pace you will be helped into the SAG wagon and will be transported to the finish line.
The Huey P. Long Bridge Run will feature mile markers at every mile and two well-supported water stations.
