Councilwoman Cynthia Lee-Sheng, Councilwoman Jennifer Van Vrancken and President Michael S. Yenni will celebrate the completion of improvements to the Bonnabel Boat Launch with a Ribbon Cutting tomorrow, Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 2:00pm.

Construction involved installing sheet pilings for a temporary dam, pumping out water within the ramp area, and removing existing concrete ramps.  The four back-down ramps have been replaced and lengthened to the ends of the existing piers, a curb has been built and Rip Rap has been placed behind the curb at the boat launch.

The angles of the new ramps have changed slightly to allow boats to lift off trailers more easily.  The small courtesy dock on the eastside has also been repaired and existing timbers on all sides have been replaced.

In addition, an existing building was raised and other drainage improvements have been made to avoid flooding near the facilities.

"Our agency is always excited to help facilitate improved access to the outdoors”, said Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Secretary Charlie Melancon. “The Sport Fish Restoration Program (Wallop-Breaux) is a tremendous resource that enables the state to provide funding to communities such as Jefferson Parish who are eager to encourage access to the Sportsman’s Paradise for their citizens”.

Designed by Meyers Engineers LTD and constructed by Ashley Savarino Unlimited the total cost of the project was $614,261.  This project was funded by Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries and the Parks and Recreation Department.
